Scholastic Arts Spotlight UW Platteville

MONONA (WMSN) -- Shaina Williams of Cottage Grove is honored in the June feature of our Scholastic Arts Spotlight.

Shaina started dancing when she was only three years old, after seeing her sister perform in recitals.

Today, Shaina trains for 13 hours a week or more at A Step Above in Monona. Her sister, Sarah, is an instructor there and Mom, Linda, works the front desk part time.

Shaina says performing lyrical dance is her favorite, and those who watch her say she is amazing. "When you see Shaina dance, especially when you see her dance lyrical, you really can't take your eyes off of her - so whether it's in class or in a group piece, it's really hard because your eyes really go right to Shaina." Says dance instructor Jessica Duplessis.

Shaina plans to attend college and pursue a degree in elementary education with a minor in dance.
